No, I just understand the context of history.

During the economic boom of the 1980's and even during the 1990's, there was still talk about being economically disassociated. So in general, what you're describing is nothing new.

However, the last 6+ years have proven something. Barack Obama and a Democratic-controlled Congress had 2 years to basically do pretty much as they pleased. Their one achievement? A health care plan that has, contrary to the promises of saving the average American family $2,500 a year, made it financially tougher for much of the lower-middle and middle class. On average, premiums, costs, and deductibles have gotten worse for middle-income America, not better. Couple that with payroll tax increases that affected lower-middle and middle-income Americans, along with increased gas prices because of failed energy policies, and median wages that have fallen during this administration....and the net result is lower take home pay.

So if the "American dream" is dying, it's certainly not due to free market economics. It's due to a combination of an increased welfare state "and" crony capitalism.

These are not "anecdotes", they are facts - fact that those who made up their minds long ago that they'd support this president "no matter what" are just not willing to acknowledge.
