Wow, you're absolutely right - because I got a name wrong and I forgot that Cummings is a rep, that makes an existing documented email thread between Cummings' office and the IRS disappear. That's some magic trick!!!

Seriously, that's absurd.

You're correct, it's Darrell Issa, for some reason I keep calling him Daniel Issa. I believe I've heard TV reporters refer to him as Daniel. It's also not relevant to the situation.

And yes, Cummings is a Representative. There have been other Senators implicated (most notably Senator Carl Levin), and Cummings (to my knowledge) is the only Representative involved. Again, it's not relevant, as neither item is prejudicial.

Here's what is relevant - I've probably posted about a half dozen times that there's no direct evidence of collusion by Cummings himself - the evidence is related to his office and staffers. There's documented evidence that Cummings' office reached out to the IRS for information about "True the Vote". Cummings previously denied this to be true, but the email thread indicates otherwise. Cummings could be telling the truth that he didn't know or he could be lying. But it's worth nothing that he placed the race card in response to the accusations.

This is one of many instances of the Democratic Party using the IRS as a weapon. And by the way, I'm not outraged about the Democrats "per se" doing it - I'm outraged that ANY political party would use the IRS. Nixon did it and it was wrong...and there's evidence it was done against dissenters of the Iraqi war, and that was wrong....though what has occurred here with this administration is systematically worse. And left unchecked, it means another party might pull the same stunt 10 years from now as revenge.

Tell me something - when Chris Hayes at MSNBC tries to convince people that George Wallace was a republican, or when he misquotes Bill O'Reilly so badly that his own network forces him to issue an apology ...items that are ABSOLUTELY prejudicial....does that make you stop and think about his book? (ha)
