Roughly what year did that community sparring event take place? I can only recall one exchange that even remotely resembles what you just described and that was roughly 12-13 years ago. PM me if you don't want to reveal specifics.

If I has to guess, the year would have been 2000. That was the year that they introduced a supposed 4 day Devcon but the last day and 1/2 was a day of marketing slime for .NET, which, at that point, was still vaporware. I don't know who the people involved in the sparring were, but if I had to guess, I would guess that Jim Duffy was one of them.
