I'm probably spoiled because I have FIOS and a very strong router.
When I used wired on my desktop, I get about 85 mbps down and about 80 up.
When I use wireless in nearly any part of the house (or even on the front or back porch) I still get about 80-85 down and nearly 80 up, even when using multiple wireless devices.
I wasn't aware of any health hazards associated with wireless. As much as I've used wireless for over a decade, I'd probably have permanent brain damage (though a few people might think that about me anyway) :)
