Quibbling over statistics is useless, Victor.
Until people wake up one day and realize that it is a priori insane that someone can buy weapons that can kill dozens of people, all the statistics are meaningless.
Believe it or not though, it happens.
I almost cried in 1980 when I had to accept the fact that my gas-guzzling 1976 Olds 98 company automobile would be replaced by something almost 2 feet shorter and a thousands pounds lighter- "No way" I said "This little thing is too vulnerable on the road." Of course "this little thing" was a monster compared to what I'm driving today.
When I show my grandkids pictures of that big Olds 98 they say.. "You actually drove that thing?"

Now, no one with a sound mind would want to go back to those monsters.
They were a priori insane, I now realize.
However, the government had to force us to make that change and there was lots of resistance- and there still is resistance to emissions standards- but it worked.

Don't quibble. It will happen when the government shows leadership and that hasn't happened.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
