>>Worth noting that at least one sheriff would like to be able to deport US citizens:
If only it were true that complicated problems have sound bite solutions.
Those who feel demoralized by US issues might like to look at Europe that is besieged by waves of hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria and Africa trying to make their way illegally across Europe to claim asylum in richer Western nations. Britain is raising its drawbridge and EU nations that allowed free passage for years are erecting border controls. Conservatives predict that predominantly Christian communities may see their children growing up in a Caliphate, while ISIS has released a map of European nations it plans to dominate by 2020 including Spain and Greece.
I'm scheduled to return to NZ very soon. Sometimes it's OK to be in a small quiet place at the end of the earth with a wide and deep moat.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
