I haven't read it, but I've seen him interviewed. He's powerfully articulate and well informed but he considers himself a writer- not a reformer.
Someone called him a modern James Baldwin.
Baldwin was just as upsetting for my generation and he accomplished a lot.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
