Defining "unobtrusive" in Ads by having companies pay to be on their white list is questionable enough. There were some articles describing a small network of owners and leading people from the more unwanted area of "affiliate networks" and some accusations that they try to split click revenues from Amazon or similar ads by changing the cookie URLs, which in my book would be black hat behaviour. Did not follow up in depth, but sounded ugly.
