>Hi Bill I installed this from your link and I can at least p!ay with it now but I still don't have the option to create a report from SSMS - is this doable with the express version ? - also when you say VS do you mean VS proper or one of the many different versions that appear to get installed with SS these days ? Thanks again

I've never been able to figure out how to create reports from SSMS, so I user the builder.

By VS, I mean VS proper.
For C# apps that require reports to be run from the app, I create them right in the C# solution and run them using the report viewer control.

The builder is easier to use at first because you can run reports without running the VS application.
I'd suggest doing that to familiarize yourself with the mechanics of creating reports with SSRS.
(Quite different from the VFP report writer, but be patient, it's worth it)
Once you're comfortable you can do server reports and reports from VS applications.
The report development mechanics are the same but the deployment is quite different.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
