I'll ask my wife, she has many of the old, old series. I only started watching during the "new" edition that started 10 years ago.

I've watched a handful of the old ones, and they were certainly OK. But I like the new editions much better.

On scary....when I was a kid in the early 70's, I was a Spiderman and Ultraman fanatic. And they seemed extremely dramatic at the time. Of course, now that I watch them I have to laugh at how campy they were. Then again, my daughter also thinks that Ultraman from the 60's is "silly" (I showed her an episode)
