Ideally the tool would allow the resource to be unzipped and fed immediately as an xml string into the xml parser used when reading local resources ("MSXML2.DOMDocument.6.0").

Long user of dFPUG solution, should be 50 or 100€ for non-members. Did not look into other solutions, as we have a connection with dFPUG head honcho Rainer Becker, but is built on zLib C code. Has 1 fll, optional Gui form (vcx) showing progress in detail. Often used with dirs containing many normal and a few large dbfs, able to crunch dirs well above 15GB, faster with bigger files.

Single threaded, so compared to RAR slower on current machines.

If DOS wndows popping up all over the screen are no problem (inhouse?) I'd steer WinRAR via command line options. Faster, free and I am not a beautiful GUI fixated dev ;-))
