Well under that 'old school' you had 100% control over how report will come out. And yes you needed to have smart reporting strategy
in order to keep everything under control. Then came FRX era and we had to relinquish full control in return for FRX comfort.
Personally never liked this particular trade off. This is exactly how/why Report Sculptor came about :-)
With RS you can actually rewrite those legacy dos reports almost completely just by using search and replace.
There are method calls which mimic exactly those old ?/?? writing commands. Exactly for people like Colin who still have them
in their legacy apps.
