>>Futbol - a gentlemen's game played by hooligans ;)
With hooligans in the bleachers as well.
It's happened in Rugby as well- e.g. at the 1924 Olympics, they put up a fence to protect the US players. In the 2015 World Cup the closest would be an enthusiastic fan joining in the recent South Africa-Samoa game. Periodically there are punch ups on the sidelines but that results in people being banned, possibly for life, and it's not expected that hooligans will turn up primed for trouble.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
