>>IMHO, failing to protect the US citizens who were in Benghazi and then trying to cover up the terrorist attack that caused the deaths of 4 Americans is something that is worthy of an investigation. Apparently you think that this is no big deal. If one of those 4 Americans had been a friend or relative of yours you might think a little differently...

>Those are noble thoughts.
>The party leader who called for the hearings, however, didn't see fit to mention them.
>Instead he pointed to Hillary's falling poll numbers as a good result of the hearings.

They are not just noble thoughts. They are the truth.

It was a political statement and a stupid one for Mccarthy to make. And the Dems are milking it for all they can.

Ever see the movie "Presumed Innocent"? When Harrison Ford made a bad sarcastic joke that he killed the woman (when he didn't). The assistant DA was convinced that Ford's bad judgement of a joke was somehow a confession. Similar concept here (though in reverse) - McCarthy's stupid joke doesn't change the fact that Hillary (and the administration) should be held accountable for not doing their jobs and for willfully lying (and it would also appear for Hillary, for violating federal laws)
