Peter, there have been changes (and I didn't realize until now that you live in CT). Some new laws were passed. Also, some schools across the U.S. took a more serious look at their safety measures.
It's very sad that it took a horrible tragedy to bring about such change. (And it's also sad that poor/absentee parenting is also at least a factor in tragedies such as that one, as well the Oregon tragedy). But to say "nothing got done about it" is not true.
