We have a lot more problems that this one. I would prefer to see a much smaller federal government with more decisions being made at the state and local levels.

In general, I agree with that approach. I, for one, don't want people in Alabama deciding what I should or shouldn't do.

However, some things, like weapons, are easily transportable over state line, so I'd favor a federal law limiting the size of the magazine and another one requiring background checks.

After that what the person can or can't do with the gun should be up to the state.
