There are a number of positions where I agree with him in general (Iran deal, Roe v Wade, etc.), but his position on the Iran deal in particular will create problems for him if he runs for the Ds. Barack Obama has dishonestly poisoned the waters on anyone who goes against the Iran deal.

(And he has similar problems on other positions if he runs for the Rs. An essentially pro-choice candidate has not won a primary in a battleground state in over 3 decades.

And if he runs independent/libertarian, he has absolutely zero chance.
