Only plug in into HDMI port plus power for the device through USB cable - either from the TV / monitor or any USB hub or charger.

Should be ok for android devices from current middle class (think Motorola G and similar) but am not too sure if Kitkat will give you all options or if you need Lollipop or higher. So for android tablets this should be the device with most money behind updates.

Uncertain if you can stream all screen output from windows devices with special Chrmecast backgroud app or only special apps like Chrome.
