As you guys had suggested, I used the table exclusively and then did a DELETE TAG ALL.
That took care of all the bloat in the CDX file. Then I did some experimenting and found that every time the program was run it
was indexing it (using a tag).

I've reprogrammed this, and the CDX file is no longer a program.
I've got to thank you all for your concern and prompt attention to this.
The VFP family is number ONE.
