It comes from the republicans saying they are against gay marriage and not wanting to givie them equal rights. this is very well documented and they're proud to say these things..thus homophobic. I'm sure you're aware of the candidates position on gay marriage.

I consider myself a libertarian and not a republican. However, I believe that marriage, since it is a religious institution, should be between one man and one woman. However, I do not think that gays shouldn't have equal rights. I believe that they should be able to enter into legal contracts (analogous to "marriage") that afford them the same rights as married people have without trampling on the first amendment. Why do you have a problem with this? You really must broaden your horizons and become less provincial.

They would rather shut down the entire government and spread some lies than allow women access to birth control and the right to choose to have an abortion. and of course this is only part of what planned parenthood does.

I have no problem with women having access to birth control and abortion. I just do not want to subsidize it. If Sandra Fluke can afford to go to Georgetown University to study law, I think that she can afford $9 per month for birth control pills without me having to buy them for her.
