Yes I do. And there were a lot of reasons for that: one of them being the fact that the divorce rate was much lower back then. When I was growing up, only one of my friends' parents were divorced. In this day and age, everyone is divorced. If you are the only adult in the household, you are going to have to get a paying job unless you are going to go on the dole.
