LOL. Apparently you can add apps.skype.com to your restricted sites to block the ads- but also the Skype home screen.

FWIW, the biggest intrusion I see at the moment is the Windows 10 nag icon/popup. I remove the culprit Windows updates and make the recommended registry settings and the nag goes away... only to return a day or ten later.
