A lot of people cancel land phone lines and not at all because of the spam or telemarketers. Now that almost everybody has a cell phone and most cell phone companies allow unlimited number of calls; hence, no reason to have land lines. Just extra expense. But I pay so little for the land line that I am even lazy to cancel it :)
