Now that almost everybody has a cell phone and most cell phone companies allow unlimited number of calls; hence, no reason to have land lines. Just extra expense. But I pay so little for the land line that I am even lazy to cancel it :)

Move to a new neighborhood :) (kidding). We have an VOIP land line that if the power is out, the phone is down too. Actually the cell phone works even if/when the power is out so it has a certain advantage. But I think that the days (years) of land phone lines is counted.
