>>>>>>Addressed to a UK resident who may know the French better than many here: it's a bad idea to attack the French. Unlike UK and US populations, the French won't weep or punish politicians if there are other casualties to take down the terrorists. The Russians are the same. Assuming these attacks were by Isis, it's about the worst own goal they could have come up with to attack those two. IMHO.

What are you talking about ?
Escobar is an excellent journo. He might be playful with words and descriptions and adding some of his humor to it
but that should not distract intelligent reader to grasp the points he is making.
Main one being closing sentence;
Q: 'So let’s see how long it takes for NATO boots on the ground. THIS is what Daesh is aiming at.'
He was actually being nice here to some sensitive western readers. What he did not say explicitly and left it to everyone's
own conclusion/question is;
Is it might be NATO that actually wants NATO boots on the grounds, and not some 20+ year old 'bunch of Goons' ?
With Russia entering the game (legally) this event (especially sheer brutality of it) along with few others will certainly help world public
digest illegality of western interventions in Syria lot lot easier. Now, alleged 'mastermind' of all this does looks like real bad-ass, that will surely repel any future conspiracy theories as to who is responsible for this horrible atrocity.
