I doubt the authenticity of that to start with - but even if it's true (which I doubt because the math doesn't add up), it's far from a typical case, and someone else still paid 90% of the costs so it's a very poor example to begin with. I still stand by my statements that these days it's generally not possible for a kid to pay for their own college and graduate without huge debts.
