A customer is using my VFP 9 application with SQL Server 2008 R2 database. All have been working well for over a year.
The IT just sent me the following message:
We are going to upgrade the 2008 R2 from SP2 to SP4 on Monday the 21st at 3pm until 7pm. We’ll take a snap of the server (virtual
technology) and then move forward with the SQL patching. If SQL 2012 is supported, we’ll want to move forward with spinning up a new
SQL 2012 server and migrate H D A to the new server. What services will we need from you to get that done.
A few questions, please:
1. What is 'spinning a up a new SQL 2012'?
2. What is "H D A"
3. When they do this type of work, does the SQL Server name stay the same? Because my VFP 9 app relies on the SQL Server name and the DB name.
4. When they do this type of upgrade, do they change SQL Server logins?
