I made a test on Google Chrome and I cannot replicate this behavior.

Here is attached how it should be.

I have version Version 48.0.2564.82 m.

Then, there was an upgrade to version Version 48.0.2564.97 m. I tested with that and that works as well.

Can you reload the interface by forcing a manual refresh and see if this is the same? If it is the same, can you enable the display of javascript errors to see if you have errors reported when you do the search?
