Frankly I think that I would be able to learn how to make C# desktop applications a lot easier than all of this. But - the boss here told me to to try to pick up on some ASP.NET MVC over the next few weeks, ..and they're the ones paying me - so that is exactly what I will do.

You really have to learn C# and the VS IDE before you can do anything and that will take some time and quite a bit of work.
The C# syntax is foreign to a VFP programmer at first and it takes some time to wrap your head around it, but it's worth it.
Tell them that you'll do some C# console tutorials to do that and that will set you up to learn ASP MVC.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
