>>>I'm expecting this all to be very difficult for me ..at least at first. I've never done any kind of web development at all - so I do not know any HTML or CCS or Java at all. Frankly I think that I would be able to learn how to make C# desktop applications a lot easier than all of this. But - the boss here told me to to try to pick up on some ASP.NET MVC over the next few weeks, ..and they're the ones paying me - so that is exactly what I will do.

That's good. I struggled with it for quite a while before settling in with it.

>> The thing I like about the desktop apps with C# is that you can grab a control and drag it onto the form, set a few properties and bind some data.

Actually, most C# desktop programmers do all that in code. It's a lot faster and more reliable, but I started the way you outline and it was a good way to start.

MVC is another world entirely, but it's a lot of fun and I had a pretty easy time learning it.
It will help if there are people around who are using it and and can answer quick questions.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
