This moves the most important information - messages - from center view to the area where I normaly ignore advertisements. Also the time was a help for us that live in other time zones.

Also somehow the Messages / Replies / PM section was more prominent, but I can not say why. I feel it difficult to pick the item in that area. I guess it's now more scattered between tabs / favorites toolbar and UT left pane. In my recognition Messages acts more as a header to UT left pane then a separate item.
This was no problem with wathever was there before - it was of rare use.

If Replies (x/n) means unread of total it seems not to update.
