>>As someone who has been writing for periodicals for over a decade and has studied the magazine industry since my teens, the idea of giving that level of responsibility in legal journalism to someone who never penned content for the group....well, that's like an inexperienced amateur being voted in as president of a country. Oh, wait....

Tamar, sorry, but the link is not necessary. I've read the history of the qualifications, having heard that argument many times.

It misses the point. To be named president of the Law Review without having penned a single article (either before becoming president or during his tenure) is rather troubling. I looked at a history of some of the Harvard Law review presidents and I found they had been published in a legal journal either during (or at least after) their tenure.

You've been published many times. Surely you realize that the process of writing for a major journal forces you into a rigorous thought process. It would appear Barack Obama, supposedly this "great legal mind" hasn't gone through that process. At the law firm where he worked, his most rigorous activity was writing motions and prepping for depositions. Certainly important work but ultimately rather mundane work done by associates. This is an affirmative justification for the view that Obama's plans are often poorly architected, both legally and economically.

Additionally, Obama's tenure as president (Volume 104) is the least cited law review in the 20 year period afterwards. All other volumes published were cited an average of 54% more frequently. There's a quote in a Harvard biography that the next law class wanted a tougher and more aggressive editor.

Remember, this is the man who wanted to take monies recouped from TARP and fund a second stimulus. This would have been in clear violation of the law he signed. When his own advisors told him he couldn't do that, he gave the now-famous reply, "remember, I won the election". He's the creation of those who gave him prior positions in life that he hadn't really earned.

If you don't believe me - read some of the reactions of the appellate courts that have blocked his actions, including the appellate judge that blocked his immigration nonsense last year. (And you can even find instances where his administration has openly defied judges orders, even as recently as this year)
