>I've rumblings that Dynamics is moving to the cloud and there will be less effort put into the desktop version. But, I don't follow these products much anymore with my job change last year.

>Microsoft is absolutely not moving away from .,Net. It's open sourcing much of it, but development of new features is still very much alive inside MS and will be for the foreseeable future. In fact, I've seen various .Net teams grow in size recently.

>>Aren't you concerned that MS will drop Dynamics (or Navision) in the future? MS is moving away from desktops and looking to the future with Azure. I believe Dynamics was purchased because of a personal relationship between the Great Plains CEO and MS and a means to combat Oracle financials. Not sure why they purchased Navision? But with the new MS CEO I wonder how long Dynamics and Navision will be on the MS software list. Yes I know that 15 years after the death of VP we still get jobs - but that will soon end.

>>I'm biased - I even believe MS is even going to move away from .Net. Things are changing at MS i.e. - allowing linux and Android products to work under the MS banner is just a start. They are moving closer and closer to open source and open standards.

>>I was speaking with a Syspro (a .net ERP system) guy just yesterday and was told that some in his office are concerned with MS's commitment to .Net. Apparently, they have been talking to MS about what is next.

>>That said, I believe $250 million was injected into Navision and Dynamics two years ago!

New AX is already moved to cloud. It comes with cloud version first. After one year, on-premise version will be published.
