Yousfi's #2 item is a common cause of this. In Windows Explorer it's too easy to inadvertently drag an entire folder someplace else.
If that's the case a search in Windows Explorer for a file you know should exist should find it. If the move was done by an admin, it may now be in a folder that only an admin can access and/or search.
