>>I never saw the value of the lifetime achievement award to begin with, so I have no opinion on who receives it.

I saw value. The first recipient was Strahl. Well deserved IMHO. Also I liked most of the subsequent awardees, which is a different matter from disliking the process.

>>Having said that, it's a bit of a gratuitous slap to put JVP and "Crunchie the Clown" in the same sentence. I don't care for some of JVP's actions, but there's little question that he contributed a substantial amount of valuable work to the Fox world.

Yes, but you've eliminated context to deliver a point. The context was that if it's OK to appoint yourself to make community decisions- then what's to stop anybody else doing the same to make the concept a farce? I quite like Crunchy and probably would get on OK with JVP in person, but that's not the context.

>>Years ago you got very defensive when I set the record straight on the "corporate/senior execs", and I'd say you're getting defensive here. OK, no one is forcing you to answer, but then you set precedents of how you respond (or don't respond).

LOL. Why would I be defensive to what a disembodied online persona may say? Once again you've eliminated context, which was a certain luminary saying that in-memory resultsets auto-spooling to disk was going to be a "personal priority" whose meaning you disputed, subsequently focusing on a nit that had nothing whatever to do with the context.

>>As for not breaking forum rules - candidly, I think your responses to the posts about the NYC .NET User Group were trolling, insulting, and insincere.

IMHO it's a legitimate question why SQL Server people need to step in to "rescue" a NET user group somewhere significant like NY. If you cannot see anything except grievance in that, that's you being defensive and hunting for grievance like a stereotype liberal.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
