I have a client that has a Compaq 2000 Desktop computer. Whenever I start spooling VFP 5.0 jobs to a HP LaserJet 4si, a Windows 95 error message pops ups "Error writing to LPT1". This only happens when I spool **more than** 10 print jobs at once. Also, this is a local printer--no network is involved.
So far I have tried the following:
(1) Downloaded Lpt.vxd version 4.00.503
(2) Reinstalled the printer driver
(3) Removed and reinstalled the ECP printer port
(4) Verified there is plenty of disk space
(5) Disabled bi-directional printing
(6) Try sending data as RAW and EMF
(7) Tried to change the ECP printer port to a standard port through the BIOS, but the Compaq will not allow me to change it.
(8) Verified that the printer cable is a IEEE 1284 cable.
(9) Downloaded Compaq SP1516 that will disable a EPP printer ports in Compaq computers
Non of the above works.
I'm almost convinced that this is a hardware issue related to Compaq ECP port. However, I cannot find smoking KB article that will verify this.
Has anyone experienced this problem, or have any suggestions?
