Hey, folks. I wrote an essay about how I got into software development. My contribution to #DiversityInSTEM.

The only reason I got into programming was that I divorced my first husband, was almost 30 years old, and still tending bar. I thought to myself "I sure as H3ll don't want to be doing this when I am 50!" I already had a BS in psychology and an associates degree in industrial arts education, so I looked at the possibilities of going into special education or school psychology. But then I got practical and started looking at the want adds to see what job seemed to have the best future and paid the best money. In 1982, this was programming. So I went back to school to get my BSCS degree. Fortunately, I wound up really liking it and being pretty good at it. Now, over 30 years later, the rest is history :)
