I went, I read, I cried.
I didn't see any "news" there, other than they're working in the "guts" of VFP to improve mid-tier capabilities.
I did see what still looks like fluff, like the promotion of MTS capability when those here who are knowledgeable tell us that MTS is so far hardly useful.
The foundation classes and the component gallery may be useful, but I have yet to locate the documentation which gives some insight as to how best to employ them.
The stated fact that VFP is not in the business of competing with SQL Server is 'code' to let us know not to expect much in the way of enhancements to VFP databases/tables. This even despite the acknowledgement that many still deploy VFP for single tier applications.
I guess the article *does* imply that there will be another release, but I think most of us were comfortable with that anyways. Rejoicing at this article seems like much overreaction to me.
