>>>. I'm not saying all FBI agents are bad, or even that the FBI itself is bad - I'm just saying that as a whole I don't trust the FBI- and looking at history there is good reason for this. The FBI is just using this case as a ruse to get into your biz. Don't be fooled by the man!

>51 FBI officers died in the line of duty in 2014. Some years we've lost a lot more.
>Ridicule them?
>I don't do that.

I made it clear that I don't think all FBI agents are bad.

>The FBI is the only organization trying to keep state and local governments honest.
>The mayors of several NJ towns are in federal prisons because of the work of the FBI.
>They probably won't nail Christie but several people he appointed to the Port Authority will certainly do federal time.
>The FBI was justly criticized for not vigorously pursuing a few indicators that might have raised red flags before 9/11.
>Here we have a clear opportunity to get information that might shed light on who was guiding the people who slaughtered innocent people in San Bernardino.

Yes - but keep in mind all the illegal things the FBI has done over the years. Setting up people during the protests of the 60's and 70's - keeping illegal data..etc etc etc. So it's not like they're perfect - far from it as matter of fact. I dated a couple girls once who's parents got all caught up in this type of mess back in the late 60's early 70's, and I know a lot of lives were ruined as a result of these illegal FBI activities. Doesn't doing this ridicule all those than stood up for our civil rights and privacy?

>They shouldn't see how Apple gets it.

ohhh but they will. How else are they going to know if Apple is telling the truth? It may not start out that way - but it sure as hell will end up that way because someone is going to say they don't believe Apple. I haven't checked news lately - but i"m sure our lovely GOP candidates are already saying Apple equals ISIS - so yeah - if this happens, Apples is gonna have to show them how to do it. And all the people in his phone and all the people that those people called and all those people's people will then have their privacy invaded and be in some FBI 'watch this guy close' file.

>But if Apple can do anything to help save US lives it should.
>Period.

..and if Apple can do anything to protect the rights of the US people it should.

Ok - but first you're making the assumption that this would even render any results that would save US lives. And secondly, it's the FBI's job, not Apple's job to be doing the protecting of the people and investigating. Now all that being said - while I do disagree with you about if Apple should do this or not, you do make very valid points. Obviously it would be nice to know what's on the phone..right? This is one of those things that I might change my mind on as time goes by.after I listen more and give it more thought.
