Had Scalia been one of Obama's favorite judges who passed away, and if other circumstances around this were different, do you think he'd make a joke about it? (And then give that smug little chuckle about it?) And like Marcia pointed out, had a Republican president made a similar joke, the mainstream media would be ALL OVER the president for being insensitive.

Much as I don't like GWB, he had more class than to do something like that. Have you ever wondered why, despite all the issues in Iraq, why GWB still largely remains popular with the military? Because people can still spot someone with class and dignity (and people can also spot a scoundrel)

Related topic: a video has now emerged of Biden talking about the Senate and the confirmation process from back in 1992. Even though a large part of the media jumped on video and kind of missed the point on what Biden "actually" said, what cannot be denied is that Obama does not conduct himself in the manner that Biden thought any president should. So that brings the running tally of instances over the last 9 days of double-standards within the Democratic party to a pretty high number.
