>Keep in mind something - Harry Reid sat on a number of bills and wouldn't even bring up a vote, partly to protect Obama.

>Remember what Obama told people right after 2008..."if you don't like what's going on, win an election". Those might not have been his exact words, but I believe I'm paraphrasing faithfully his message.

I remember seeing this - If that's not exactly what he said it sure is close.

>Well, look what happened in 2010 and even more so in 2014 - the Republicans blasted...and I underscore the word... BLASTED the Dems and took over the House and Senate in the process. One can make a very valid argument that the vote sent a message that enough voting Americans wanted to see Obama neutralized.

The message it sent to me was that the American voter is kinda stupid, gullible, and easily misled. Trump is capitalizing on this too - hence him saying "I love the poorly educated people" last night (to a roaring crowd of people too..haha). He also has a HUGE margin of voters that have an education level of high-school or less.

>The 2014 election in particular was a compelling rejection of the DNC and Obama - not just that the Rs retained the House and won the Senate, but that they won many governor races and won convincingly in local elections. I disagree with many things in the RNC platform, so I looked upon the 2014 results with mixed reactions: I don't like to see the current version of the Rs winning, but I sure enjoyed watching the Ds get taken to the proverbial woodshed.

>Sometimes the role of Congress is to say "no". Whether by voting "no" or by exercising the permissible option not to vote. Rarely will I quote Obama, but in this case it's appropriate - if people don't like it, then win an election.

That's true - but at the same time the gridlock we have in congress as a result of the obstructionism caused by the GOP is preventing anything from getting done. As I've said before, the GOP has publicly stated that they will not give Obama anything he wants, no matter what...and this latest episode with the supreme court is just another example of that. So they are not really doing their job - they're just being a-holes because they don't like him - and don't kid yourself it's partly because he's black. Considering the huge amount of resistance he's faced on anything he's tried to accomplish, it's pretty impressive that he's been able to get anything done. The GOP has long been the party of resistance to progress and obstruction - but it's simply out of control now. But I think this is what the GOP base wants - things like they were in the 1950's - segregation and women need to stay at home and not think. Just look at the Trump poll numbers for validation of that.
