Bonjour Denis,
>I downloader Enigma but never really tested it.
My first tests on Enigma was unsuccessful. By the way, the offering includes two distinct flavors:
- a fully free packer (that did not for me),
- a more complex product (a dreadful UI IMHO) that offers encryption support
After a couple of unsuccessful tests, the software ran amok and locked up, possibly with the view that I was trying to cheat with the licensing. Of course I was not but I became unpleased for sure... I understand from Emre Metin on this very thread that he is using the free bundler and is happy with it. Good news:)
>I will look at BoxApp.
My first tests with BoxedApp (thanks Hank by the way) were successful.
The good points:
- it can encapsulate the VFP app properly
- it runs a virtual registry à la molebox for including COM-based stuff and activeX
- the UI is pretty straightforward (better than the molebox one),
- it is A-L-I-V-E and supported (molebox Alexéy Sudachén and Olga Marchevska closed their shop - I do not blame them - that's business life)
The bad ones:
- it does not offer encryption (molebox one was certainly breakable - but that was an added layer)
more importantly,
- runtime speed is on par with both native VFP and the one of moleboxed applications.
the WORST point (not dramatic but that's one bad point for sure):
- the STARTUP TIME IS ABSOLUTELY DISASTROUS at least on the workstations I tried to deploy as a test.
In the end, I really miss molebox. A great product that did make it. One more.
Daniel
