Right now there are many people trying to read the proverbial tea leaves on what this means. (One note: he wasn't just recently granted immunity. The actual grant occurred months ago).

On the one hand, you have the Clinton campaign saying, "We're glad he is talking and cooperating". Of course they're going to say that! What else can they say?

On the other hand, you have people who are convinced this is evidence that a grand jury has already been convened. Not necessarily true, as there could be many legal scenarios where immunity was granted without a judge. Also, this specific immunity wasn't part of a plea deal.

About the only likely explanation is that the DOJ/FBI believes there was criminal action of some type, most likely obstruction of justice.

One other opinion - Loretta Lynch is probably hoping she'll get nominated as a Supreme Court judge, so that she won't have the possible decision in her lap on whether to prosecute.
