I find it useful to have the "Enable auto quote" feature turned on by default, when creating replies to messages. However, one thing I've never liked about the way that currently works is it puts a ">" symbol at the start of each line in {pre} blocks, as well as for the body text.
I would prefer that lines in {pre} blocks don't get that prefix, or perhaps it could be another option for replies that could be customized per-user. For me, having the current system for non-{pre} blocks (body text) is fine.
