Recently, I started a thread on getting the best index. The situation was that there are actual indexes on the table. The execution plan decides to use one but that is not the best optimized index that there could be. As the execution plan picked one, it will not show in green a recommended index. How can I obtain a recommended index without having to remove all the indexes it takes until it would be forced to show one in green?

Some says to use the Tuning Advisor but that says that everything is 100% optimized. So, it didn't work very well.

Basically, I have a query. I would only want SQL Server to tell me what it would recommend as far as the best index for that query. What procedures or tools should we use?
