But as for your reply, when I've discussed the targeting of conservative/Tea Party groups by the current administration (such as direct quotes by the IRS about the power of the audit and referrals to the FEC in response to Congressional Dems who feared the rise of the Tea Party), the response has always been along the lines of, "oh, you just hate Obama".

One of the reasons that the collusion of the IRS with the DNC and certain Congressional Dems is so bad is not just because the target was the Tea Party. It's because I'm quite certain that many Rs, if given the opportunity a decade from now, will do the same thing. That is the difference between being a principled advocate of rights and partisan defenses.
