I've never used TEXTMERGE to create reports like you are doing. I either use the native reports or in a couple of cases use ??? to specifically send PCL5 language printjobs directly to LaserJet printers.

If you are using TEXTMERGE you have to send all the printer language appropriate commands to the printer to select fonts, sizes and output locations.

If you use ?/?? to output the report look at SET PRINTER for setting fonts. I'd strongly suggest you use a native VFP report instead though.

If you use the native VFP report you can easily use lines, ellipses.
