If the user hits the downarrow key it will go to that field and then they can mouse click wherever they want, otherwise when they post a payment and hit ENTER, or TAB, the processing is done, and they go back to the lookup field via code in the lost focus which reads the lastkey().

In reality, for the user there is no extra step. He just need to press enter to submit the data. From any control on your form. Anything else is by code. :) If user decides to tab to the button and pres enter / space - this is users decision. Enter alone will do.

And in my not so humble opinion, data should be aubmitted in some way, enter is the normal way? I would be a bit surprised if I tab through a form and it post data on tab. This is as ugly as modern ui where one has no ok and cancel - every mistake is perma.
