The sad thing is that American liberals will close their eyes on people like him.>
>The really sad thing is that most American Jews tend to vote democrat and the most of the democrats in recent history (Obama, Clinton, Carter) are fiercely anti-Israel and pretty much anti-Semitic. It is much like the black community voting for the party that spawned the Ku Klux Klan. Go figure...
We recently saw a Broadway play "Disgraced" (not on Broadway but here in Boston by another professional repertory company). If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it, if it comes to your area. The play won Pulitzer Prize. I don't want to give away the story but it was interesting to see the reaction of the audience (in Boston) which is, in majority, very liberal. I think they were shocked.
Then a couple of weeks later we had a dinner with a group of friends from our temple (we do progressive dinners every months or so); the entire group is 99% liberal. We started talking about the movies and plays some of us saw recently. This play, Disgraced, was mentioned. Another couple, ultra-liberal American Jewish family, said that they saw the play. When someone asked them what the play was about the woman hesitated, waited as if she was looking for a way to get out of answering the question. And they she said quietly "It is about discrimination" and quickly moved another topic. My wife and I exchanged the looks like "WTF is she talking about; what a way to spin the truth"..
You are so right.
