Caravan was the old model name for Opel Kombis, comparable to Ford Turnier, VW Variant and so on.
The nearest comparison for the US van till the 80ies was (Klein-)Transporter (VW Bully and larger), but those were more used for work than bipersonal parking, which is evident from the interior. Starting with Renault Eclipse a more people-usable van-similarity was seen in Europe.
Hatchback for instance the normal Mini is called - not really a coupé. Hatchback is a limousine with odd number of doors, whereas sedan is typically 4-door limousine in 3-box-design sporting a traditional trunk.

And as a US limousine is really long, they call it limo ;-))
